Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a powerful holistic therapy designed to detoxify & support the body’s immune function
What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD), is a gentle and rhythmic technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system. Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses technique works along the lymphatic pathways using light, precise, repetitive hand movements to stretch skin over the underlying tissue. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy immune system and helps eliminate toxins, waste, and excess fluids from the body.
Why do I need Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
For general wellness, recommend MLD monthly. If you sit at a desk all day, or lead an inactive lifestyle, MLD could benefit you. If you have recently undergone surgery, or are preparing for a procedure, MLD could play a big role in your recovery process. If you’re experiencing chronic headaches, allergies, sluggishness, swelling, digestive issues, or other inflammatory conditions, MLD could benefit you.
Unlike the circulatory system which relies on heart pumping, circulating blood, lymphatic system has no pump. Lymph is propelled in one direction when lymph vessels contract by way of muscular movement etc. A sluggish lymph system can lead to various symptoms such as fatigue, stiffness, bloating, frequent illnesses, and puffy face or eyes. This can be caused by a lack of movement, dehydration, obesity, or lymphatic dysfunction For post-op care, MLD helps reduce swelling and can increase mobility during recovery.
How MLD can help Lymphedema?
Manual lymphatic drainage massage can be used as part of a treatment for lymphedema (Stage 1), an accumulation of fluid that can occur after the removal of or damage to the lymph nodes as a part of cancer treatment. MLD can help to reduce swelling and discomfort associated with lymphedema, and may also help to improve the range of motion and quality of life for those who suffer from this condition. If you do not need CDT(complete Decongestive Therapy) or previously completed, we can discuss your maintenance options.
